Kenny is the founder of the firm and has over 15 years' experience of private practice. His practice areas include intellectual property, data privacy and protection, AML regulatory issues, corporate governance, company and commercial, employment, civil litigation, and estate planning.
Intellectual Properties/ Technologies
Kenny advises on both IP and technologies matters including licensing, technology procurement and integration, subscription, sponsorship, enforcement and commercialization of IPs and technologies in Hong Kong and worldwide, corporate transactions, domain name dispute, contentious and non-contentious IP prosecutions, including trademarks, patents and registered designs.
Kenny offers his services to clients of all sizes, including listed companies with businesses in Hong Kong and around the globe, well-known international associations, entrepreneurs, emerging and startup enterprises, in different industry sectors, including financial and investment, technology, computer hardware/ software, multi-level marketing, real properties, toys, clothing, sports, entertainment, beverages, pharmaceutical, education and travel.
Kenny is regularly instructed by clients to advise on IP acquisition transactions, portfolio management, licensing strategies and general commercialization of IPs and technologies.
In addition to IPs and technologies, Kenny advises clients on joint venture, cross-border acquisition of business and assets, corporate restructuring, licensing, loan, guarantee, investment schemes, franchising, distributorship arrangement, restrictive covenants, trust and personal data protection. This includes advising clients on formulating and creating investment structures and drafting agreements and rendering opinions to commercialize and implement innovative business ideas.
With his experience in the business sectors and regulatory matters, Kenny assists clients in developing and deploying clients' own technology regulatory platforms to streamline compliance process and to enhance the effectiveness of the exchange of intra-groups' data and the collection of personal data to tackle AML regulatory and other legal compliance requirements. He also provides assistance and advice on the performance of innovative technology business models on personal data regulatory rules and regulations.
Other than AML regulatory issues, Kenny also advises clients on website contents creation and maintenance as well as the use and collection of data for online platforms in relation to the awards scheme on anti-bribery and anti-pyramid schemes related to legal compliance.
For those high-net-worth clients who have complex cross-jurisdictional landed properties, businesses and assets in Hong Kong and around the globe, Kenny also assists them on their estate planning, administration and creating asset protection schemes and structures.
Kenny obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of London and the Post Graduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) from the University of Hong Kong. He also obtained a Bachelor's degree in Hong Kong and a Master's degree in United Kingdom in public policy and management. He speaks English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
